This fine art print is based on a painting created as part of my "Tchotchke Series," in which I stage still lifes with found collectibles.

I found this carved little wooden duck at a local resale shop and staged it in a still life as a tongue-in-cheek painting. The duck, swimming on a soft fabric, is in unfamiliar territory. The title and image play on the meaning of "fish out of water," where, at times, we find ourselves in uncomfortable situations. This depiction also evokes the strength and courage to continue moving forward despite obstacles. These creations are gallery-wrapped over 2-inch painted sides to give the appearance of a gift.
